Did you know that San Antonio is the second largest cyber hub in the United States? The Cybersecurity Council fosters growth and development of the local cybersecurity industry and provides support and advocacy for legislative issues impacting the industry. The council also identifies and creates tech and cybersecurity workforce and recruitment initiatives to meet future industry needs through collaboration with academic institutions, current businesses, and the military.

CyberSecurity San Antonio program (CSSAtx) is a public-private partnership between the City of San Antonio and the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.  Housed in the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, CSSAtx convenes, connects, and brands the cybersecurity ecosystem of San Antonio. In collaboration with a highly engaged stakeholders, CSSAtx unites and strategizes with the community to build and sustain a vibrant regional cybersecurity ecosystem.

The Council has several current initiatives designed to help move the community forward as part of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce three areas of emphasis for 2022: Collaboration, Service, and Grace. 

  • Information Sharing: The Council is designing a regional information sharing network in collaboration with Bexar County and the Alamo Regional Security Operations Center.
  • Teacher Development: The Council is developing an externship program for K-12 teachers engaged in STEM and cybersecurity curricula as well as a developmental workshop for teachers with little to no cybersecurity exposure.
  • Innovation: The Council is working with 16th Air Force and other organizations to facilitate the development of an unclassified space for Airmen to develop innovative projects.
  • Business Attraction: The Council is telling the San Antonio cybersecurity story in a variety of ways to several audiences, designed to bring companies to San Antonio and business to local area businesses.
  • Business Retention and Growth: The Council keeps the pulse of the local cybersecurity community, regularly checking-in with area companies and business leaders.
  • Global Engagement: The Council supports the efforts of several players to develop and host tech-oriented international trade missions touting the City’s cybersecurity ecosystem.
  • Workforce: The Council continues to define pathways for people and students interested in a cybersecurity career to include internships, educational programs, retraining, and military transition.
